Kristy Carse

Burnaby
Born in Prince George, BC Kristy Carse is a Vancouver resident working under the traditional, ancestral, and unseeded territory of the Squamish, Musqueam, and Tsleil-Waututh Nations with a focus on oil and acrylic painting. A recent graduate from Emily Carr University of Art and Design, Carse has spent her last year of art school concentrating on idea’s home, memory, ritual, and routine – all culminating together and finding a place within her current painting series 'Inside Euphoria'.
In this series, Carse works primarily with oil paints on canvas, working through her compositions with layers of gestural mark-making. Through using these techniques, Carse intends to create a dream-like feeling within her work.
Carse’s art practice attempts to reveal the home as a place of sanctuary rather than a place of isolation, and the routines we perform within the home as rituals that connect us with that space, rather than mundane responsibilities.
